Heures D'Absence, inspired by Louis Vuitton Heures d'Absence (2020)

Three Grasse flowers carry it. Jasmine and Centifolia (May) rose share the lead, while mimosa adds a fuzzy, faintly honeyed green tone. LV calls the result vibrant and luminous. Launch press described a sandalwood and musk base with powdery accents, so the drydown stays smooth and slightly powdered.

About the original

The name goes back to 1927, when Louis Vuitton released a perfume called Heures d'Absence after the family's country house. Only around 300 bottles of that first version were made, and press reports say its formula was lost. In March 2020 Jacques Cavallier Belletrud released a new Heures d'Absence as a women's eau de parfum, so the current scent is a modern composition rather than a reconstruction.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Louis Vuitton stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Spring and daytime suit its fresh-flower profile best. Powder is part of the character, which pleases admirers of mimosa but may feel a little formal to someone after a modern fruity floral.

Mimosa opens with a green, powdery lift alongside the first touches of jasmine.

Jasmine and May rose then form the heart, lush and petal-heavy. One launch report also listed raspberry.

Sandalwood and musk make up the base according to launch press, with Peru balsam and vanilla mentioned in some accounts.

Is this the 1927 Heures d'Absence?

No. Our scent is inspired by the 2020 Heures d'Absence by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The 1927 perfume was made in very small numbers and is not the reference.

Is Heures d'Absence powdery?

Moderately. Mimosa and the sandalwood and musk base give it a powdery finish, while jasmine and rose keep it clearly floral.
