Hindu Kush, inspired by Mancera Hindu Kush (2018)

Hindu Kush opens herbal and resinous. Databases list incense, spices, labdanum (a sticky rockrose resin with a leathery, ambery smell) and a cannabis note at the top. Mancera's own notes take over from there: patchouli leaves and woods in the heart, then amber, guaiac wood, vanilla pods and white musk. Guaiac wood adds a smoky, tarry dryness, and the vanilla keeps the base from feeling austere.

About the original

Released in 2018 according to fragrance databases, Hindu Kush sits in the Woody family on Mancera's site. It is usually credited to Pierre Montale, the brand's founder, though Mancera does not name a perfumer. The house describes intense herbal notes over a woody, resinous depth with a calming trail. Only the heart and base appear in its official note list.

Who it suits

Resin and smoke define it. Mancera presents it as unisex, though one review calls it very masculine-leaning. The cannabis and incense character will not suit someone looking for a clean or sweet woody scent.
