Oud, inspired by Maison Francis Kurkdjian OUD (2012)

OUD puts the wood front and centre, with cedar and patchouli forming the body of the scent around it. Saffron and elemi lighten the composition: saffron with a leathery spice, elemi with a peppery, lemon-like resin note. The result is golden and dry, and it moves easily between masculine and feminine. Maison Francis Kurkdjian describes it as spicy and ambery, mixing East and West.

About the original

OUD was the first scent in Maison Francis Kurkdjian's OUD collection, dated to 2012 by fragrance references. The line later grew into the OUD Mood series, with satin, silk, velvet and cashmere versions, each a different fragrance. A separate OUD Extrait de Parfum, a more intense take with vanilla and musk, sits alongside the eau de parfum. Francis Kurkdjian composed it himself.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Francis Kurkdjian stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Cedar and patchouli give the oud a familiar woody frame. It is dry and spicy with no real sweetness. The oud and patchouli stay noticeable throughout, so it may feel austere to someone who wants a sweet or floral oud.

Cedar and patchouli build the middle, dry and earthy, giving the oud a solid body.

Is this the original OUD or one of the OUD Mood scents?

It is the original OUD from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Oud Satin Mood, Oud Silk Mood and Oud Cashmere Mood are different fragrances, which we also make.

Is it based on the eau de parfum or the extrait?

We reference OUD Eau de Parfum. The Extrait de Parfum is a more intense version that adds vanilla and a musky vanilla accord.

Is MFK OUD sweet?

No. Saffron and elemi give it spice and lift, but the main character is dry wood and patchouli.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days. It arrives in 3 to 7 days across the EU and in 7 to 14 days outside the EU. You have 14 days to return an unopened bottle.
