Lys 41

Lys 41, inspired by Le Labo Lys 41 (2013)

Lys means lily in French, and lily is the most concentrated note in the formula, though tuberose and jasmine are just as easy to pick out. Together they make a full, sunny white floral. Tuberose absolute adds depth and a faintly heady edge. Underneath, woods and musk with some vanilla give the flowers a smooth base, so it feels luminous rather than heavy.

About the original

Daphné Bugey created Lys 41 for Le Labo, and Now Smell This reviewed it in June 2013, the launch date we use here, although some databases give 2009. It is part of the Classic Collection. Now Smell This found it bright rather than heavy or cloying.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Le Labo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Romantic, full white florals are its natural audience. Tuberose is prominent even though the name points to lily, so a buyer wary of that flower should take note.

Only slightly. There is some vanilla in the base, but the flowers lead.
