Meliora, inspired by Parfums de Marly Meliora (2013)

Berries lead from the first spray, raspberry and blackcurrant sharpened with lemon. The heart is a rose rounded by ylang-ylang, with jasmine tea adding a green, slightly tannic lift that keeps the sweetness in check. Underneath, vanilla and praline give a light confectionery note, and musk makes the finish clean.

About the original

Meliora, dated 2013, belongs to the women's line of Parfums de Marly, the same line as Athalia. The brand describes it as uplifting, delicate and elegant. Reviewers tend to find it fresh and fruity, though some say it reminds them of shampoo.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums de Marly stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Spring and summer are the seasons most often suggested for it. Next to Athalia from the same house it is lighter and fruitier, with none of the powder or smoke, though people who dislike berry sweetness or clean, shampoo-like musk may find it ordinary.
