Onekh

Onekh, inspired by Bvlgari Le Gemme Onekh (2016)

Onekh starts with cardamom and nutmeg, aromatic rather than sweet. Leather and labdanum follow; Bvlgari describes the labdanum as smoked, and that resinous, slightly tarry smoke defines the heart. Oud deepens it, and launch press called the result leathery, animalic and spicy. Sandalwood, vanilla and amber smooth the base without making it sugary.

About the original

Jacques Cavallier created Onekh for Bvlgari's Le Gemme Men collection in 2016, one of six scents launched together, including Gyan and Tygar. It takes its inspiration from black onyx and that stone's ancient Egyptian associations. Bvlgari itself calls it an exceptional ambery oud, built on natural oud and a smoked labdanum accord. Le Gemme is the house's high-perfumery collection, and Onekh remains in the current range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Bvlgari stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Formal evenings and cooler weather are where sources place it. The leather and smoke are pronounced, with an animalic side noted at launch. It is not for anyone wanting a clean or fresh oud.

It launched in the Le Gemme Men collection. Bvlgari's current site lists it under Le Gemme without a gender.
