Smoking Hot, inspired by Kilian Paris Smoking Hot (2023)

Smoking Hot opens like the air around a hookah pipe: sweet apple tobacco curling up with a dusting of cinnamon. Once the fruit fades, fire-cured tobacco takes over, dry and dark, with immortelle adding a honeyed, almost caramelised tone. Immortelle (everlasting flower) smells of dried hay, curry leaf and burnt sugar, and here it bridges the smoke and the sweetness. Bourbon vanilla and patchouli round off the base, so the finish is balsamic rather than dry.

About the original

Kilian released Smoking Hot in autumn 2023 as part of The Smokes, a group of tobacco and smoke themed scents that also includes Back to Black and Dark Lord. The official page credits Mathieu Nardin as perfumer and calls the result a caramelised delight. Its main notes, according to the brand, are hookah flavour, tobacco absolute and bourbon vanilla. It comes in a refillable bottle, and Kilian sells refills for it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kilian Paris stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Tobacco lovers with a sweet tooth will get on with it best. Apple, vanilla and immortelle make it noticeably sugary, and the smoke is present throughout, so anyone after a dry, cigar-box tobacco may find it too dessert-like.

The top is fruity and spiced: a shisha-style apple accord with cinnamon giving it a toasted edge.

Tobacco absolute and immortelle resinoid form the heart, darker and more resinous, with that faintly burnt sweetness immortelle is known for.

In the base, bourbon vanilla softens the tobacco while patchouli adds an earthy depth underneath.

Is Smoking Hot the same as Kilian Light My Fire?

No. Light My Fire (2014) is an older Kilian tobacco scent built on cumin, hay and smoky birch, and it is far less sweet. Smoking Hot leans on apple hookah and vanilla.

How sweet is Smoking Hot?

Clearly sweet. Apple, immortelle and bourbon vanilla give it a caramel-like tone over the smoke.
