Delphinus, inspired by Creed Delphinus (2024)

Delphinus starts with a curl of incense smoke, sharpened by black and pink pepper and sweetened by almond. Heliotrope then brings its almond-and-powder softness to the heart, joined by orchid and orris butter, the iris material with a cool, suede-like feel. Leather and amberwood shape the base, and tonka and vanilla round it into a quiet glow. It feels plush and powdery rather than fiery.

About the original

Delphinus is one of the two Amber Universe fragrances Creed released in September 2024, the other being Centaurus. The name comes from the Delphinus constellation, the dolphin. Creed's US site calls it a unisex woody amber and describes it as luminous and glowing, gentler than its sister scent. The perfumer has not been disclosed.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Creed stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Of the pair, this is the softer one, with powder and leather in place of the cinnamon and tobacco of Centaurus. Admirers of orris and heliotrope will recognise the cosmetic, slightly lipstick-like texture. Powder and incense are both present, so sample first if either tends to bother you.

Yes. Heliotrope and orris butter give the heart a soft, powdery character that carries into the drydown.

Which is sweeter, Delphinus or Centaurus?

Both have vanilla and tonka in the base. Delphinus feels softer and more powdery, while Centaurus is spicier with tobacco and cinnamon. We make both.

Is Delphinus smoky?

There is incense in the opening, which gives a light smoky edge, but the powdery heart soon softens it.
