Vanilla Extasy, inspired by Montale Vanilla Extasy (2008)

Bergamot flashes by before apricot and peach give the vanilla a ripe, velvety coating. Next comes a floral layer of jasmine and ylang-ylang, with lavender adding an aromatic thread that keeps the middle from going cloying. In the base it settles for good: vanilla deepened by benzoin, a resin with a sweet, balsamic smell, with amber and sandalwood beneath and musk to finish. Overall it reads as resinous and slightly powdery rather than dessert-like.

About the original

Montale lists Vanilla Extasy in its gourmand range, and it remains in the official catalogue in 2026. fragrance references date it to 2008 and credit Pierre Montale, though the brand confirms neither. Older listings give a shorter note list, with apricot blossom, mahogany and resins among them, so the published notes have changed over time. The spelling 'Extasy' is the brand's own.
