Tuberose Angelica, inspired by Jo Malone London Tuberose Angelica Cologne Intense (2014)

Tuberose is the centre: a heady, fleshy white flower with a faintly buttery side. Angelica, a herb whose seeds and root smell green, earthy and a little musky, cuts across it. Amber in the base adds depth and a resinous glow. The whole thing reads darker than the brand's standard colognes, closer to the 'midnight garden' Jo Malone London describes.

About the original

Marie Salamagne created Tuberose Angelica for Jo Malone London's Cologne Intense collection, the richer, darker line within the brand, and it launched in March 2014. Some US listings write the name as 'Tuberose & Angelica', but it is the same fragrance. It remains in the brand's current range in 50 ml and 100 ml.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Evenings suit it best, in keeping with the brand's night-garden framing. Tuberose is a polarising note, and a buyer who finds white florals heady will likely find this one too much.

Angelica sets the tone at the start, green and earthy, with tuberose already blooming beneath it.

The heart is full tuberose, lush and narcotic, with the herbal angelica still threading through.

Amber settles underneath, giving the finish a smoother, resinous depth.

Is Tuberose Angelica the same as Tuberose & Angelica?

Yes. Some US listings use the ampersand; it is the same Jo Malone London Cologne Intense.

What does angelica smell like?

Green and herbal with an earthy, slightly musky side. Here it gives the tuberose a cooler, leafy edge.

How does it differ from the standard Jo Malone colognes?

The original is a Cologne Intense, the brand's richer and darker line. Our eau de parfum is modelled on that Cologne Intense.
