Dahlia Divin, inspired by Givenchy Dahlia Divin (2014)

Dahlia Divin opens on mirabelle plum, a small golden plum with a honeyed, slightly tart taste. Sambac jasmine fills the heart, rich and a little fruity itself, with other white flowers alongside. Structure comes from the base: sandalwood with patchouli and vetiver, a dry, chypre-like frame under the flowers. Givenchy compares its feel to satin, and the finish is luminous rather than heavy.

About the original

François Demachy composed Dahlia Divin for Givenchy, and it launched in September 2014 with Alicia Keys as the face of the campaign. It followed Dahlia Noir (2011) as the second line under the Dahlia name and later gained flankers, among them an Eau de Toilette, Le Nectar de Parfum and Eau Initiale. Givenchy now sells it within its Les Mythiques collection in a refined bottle, and says the scent itself is unchanged. Bottles in the earlier design still circulate online.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Givenchy stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Plum gives it a fruity sweetness at the start, but the woody base keeps the drydown dry rather than sugary. Jasmine dominates the heart, so it is worth testing the original first if that flower tends to overwhelm you.
