Devotion, inspired by Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Eau de Parfum (2023)

Devotion is a dessert scent with a citrus lift. Candied lemon opens it, sugary but still tangy, before orange blossom adds a floral, faintly honeyed middle. Vanilla forms the base, broad and enveloping. Reviews compare the effect to cake or panettone, and the lemon is what keeps the sweetness from feeling cloying.

About the original

Dolce & Gabbana launched Devotion in 2023, with Olivier Cresp as perfumer. The bottle carries the house's Sacred Heart motif. Several flankers followed, including Devotion Intense and a men's Devotion Pour Homme. Some note databases add panna cotta and rum to the heart, while the brand presents it simply as a gourmand.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dolce & Gabbana stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of vanilla and baked-goods perfumes are its audience. It wears comfortably year-round, and one reviewer found it particularly cosy in winter. If sugar in a fragrance puts you off, this is not the one to choose.

The opening is candied lemon, sweet and zesty like peel from a pastry shop.

Orange blossom then comes through, floral and lightly honeyed, on a dessert-like accord.

Vanilla carries the rest, smooth and sweet.

How sweet is Devotion?

Clearly sweet, in a dessert-like way, though the candied lemon keeps the opening fresh. The sweetness is noticeable rather than overpowering.

Is this Devotion or Devotion Intense?

The original Devotion Eau de Parfum from 2023. The Intense and Your Devotion versions are separate flankers.
