Idole, inspired by Lancôme Idôle Eau de Parfum (2019)

Idôle reads first as freshness: bergamot and a crisp pear accord, then rose arriving almost immediately. Lancôme uses two roses here, Isparta rose from Turkey and centifolia, and they come across watery and clear rather than jammy. Jasmine grandiflorum fills out the middle. Underneath sits what the brand calls a musky chypre structure, mostly clean white musks, so the finish stays smooth rather than resinous.

About the original

Lancôme launched Idôle in August 2019. It was composed by three women perfumers, Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina and Nadège Le Garlantezec. The bottle, designed by Chafik Gasmi, is only 15 millimetres thick and was marketed as one of the slimmest in the world. The line now includes Idôle L'Eau de Toilette, Idôle Power and Idôle Now, but Lancôme still sells this eau de parfum with what it describes as the original notes of rose, jasmine and chypre.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Office days and everyday errands are where it makes most sense. It carries little sweetness, so admirers of rich gourmand scents may find it too restrained.

Bergamot and pear give a crisp, fruity first impression.

Rose takes the centre straight away, a blend of Isparta and centifolia petals, with jasmine grandiflorum alongside.

The base is mostly white musk, set within the chypre-style frame Lancôme describes.

Which Idôle is this?

The original Idôle eau de parfum from 2019. Idôle Aura, L'Intense and Nectar are separate flankers, which we also make.

Is Idôle sweet?

Not especially. Pear gives a little fruitiness, but rose and musk dominate and the overall feel is fresh and clean.

What does Lancôme mean by a musky chypre floral?

It is the brand's term for Idôle's structure: a rose and jasmine bouquet set over clean white musks in a chypre-style frame.
