Idole L'Intense, inspired by Lancôme Idôle L'Intense (2020)

Bitter orange and mandarin give a quick, zesty start over a chypre accord, the classic mossy, woody structure that gives the scent its backbone. Turkish and Grasse roses lead the heart with two jasmines and a thread of musk. The base is where it departs most from Idôle: two patchoulis with cedar, cashmere wood, acacia wood and sandalwood, rounded with bourbon vanilla. It stays a rose scent throughout, only deeper and woodier.

About the original

Idôle L'Intense followed the original Idôle a year later, in 2020, composed by the same team: Shyamala Maisondieu, Nadège Le Garlantezec and Adriana Medina. Lancôme presented it as a stronger, bolder Idôle. It has since been discontinued: Lancôme's US site says so directly and suggests Idôle Now instead, and it is gone from the brand's sites in France, Germany, Italy and the UK. Idôle Power (2024), the intense version now in the range, is a different fragrance.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Rose lovers who want weight and woods rather than freshness are its natural audience. It reads rich and fairly strong, and the patchouli gives it an earthy edge that anyone expecting the clean, light Idôle should be aware of.

Turkish rose and Grasse rose absolute dominate the heart, with Egyptian jasmine absolute and jasmine sambac adding a velvety, faintly fruity side and musk keeping it smooth.

Patchouli, cedar, cashmere wood, acacia wood and sandalwood make a deep woody base, softened by bourbon vanilla.

Is Idôle L'Intense discontinued?

Yes. Lancôme lists it as discontinued on its US site, and it is absent from Lancôme's current ranges in France, Germany, Italy and the UK.

Is it the same as Idôle Power?

No. Idôle Power is a newer intense version from 2024 with its own formula. This page is the 2020 L'Intense.

How is it different from the original Idôle?

It keeps the rose and musk character but adds a much heavier woody base of patchouli and cedar with sandalwood and bourbon vanilla.

Is Lancôme Idole L'Intense coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Lancôme that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
