Le Parfum
39,00 €
Francis Kurkdjian’s polished Parisian floral for the relaunched Carven house. Hyacinth, apricot and sweet pea over osmanthus and sandalwood. Rebuilt at 40 percent perfume oil.
The Rebirth Scent from Carven
Carven, the historic Parisian couture house founded in 1945 by Madame Carmen de Tommaso, fell quiet for several decades before its 2009 relaunch under creative director Guillaume Henry. Carven Le Parfum, released in 2013, was the first fragrance of that new era, and the house turned to one of the most respected perfumers of the modern period: Francis Kurkdjian. The brief was Parisian elegance and spontaneity, and Kurkdjian delivered with a floral that balances airy freshness against a warm woody musk base. It became a popular bridal choice and a polite office signature for women who wanted something polished without being predictable.
How It Smells
The opening is cool and luminous, white hyacinth giving its characteristic crisp wet flower note alongside apricot and mandarin blossom. Within minutes the heart appears: sweet pea, jasmine, and ylang ylang, woven into a delicate floral bouquet that reads polished rather than romantic. The drydown is where Kurkdjian’s hand is most visible. Osmanthus apricot, Indonesian patchouli, and white sandalwood combine into a soft musky base that lingers without becoming heavy. The overall impression is of clean luxury, the perfume equivalent of an expensive cashmere scarf in a neutral colour.
The Notes
Top: white hyacinth, apricot, mandarin blossom.
Heart: sweet pea, jasmine, ylang ylang.
Base: osmanthus, Indonesian patchouli, sandalwood.
How Our Version Compares
Kurkdjian’s reputation rests on his control of clean white florals, and Carven Le Parfum is one of his most polished examples. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration follows that same character, with the hyacinth apricot opening sparkling cleanly and the osmanthus sandalwood drydown holding the composition together through a full wearing.
Common Questions
Is it a good choice for a wedding?
Many brides chose it precisely for this reason. The light floral character, the polished drydown, and the absence of anything aggressive or attention seeking make it suitable for occasions where you want to smell beautiful without dominating the room.
Will it suit office wear?
Yes, very well. One spray is typically enough; two reaches across a meeting room without overpowering it. The white floral character reads professional rather than provocative.
What season is best?
Spring and summer especially, when the hyacinth and apricot opening feels most at home. It can be worn year round but performs at its best in warmer months.
Will I be able to recognise Kurkdjian’s signature?
If you know his work (Baccarat Rouge 540, Aqua Universalis, Petit Matin), Carven Le Parfum sits clearly in the same family. The clean luminous quality of his white florals is unmistakable.
How does it last through a wearing?
Six to eight hours at our concentration, with the osmanthus and sandalwood base lingering as a soft skin scent into the evening. The bright opening fades after the first two hours, leaving the warmer drydown to carry the rest.
