L'Interdit Tubereuse Noire, inspired by Givenchy L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Tubéreuse Noire (2024)

Tubéreuse Noire takes the tuberose and darkens it. A burnt tuberose accord gives the opening a singed, slightly smoky edge, and Indian tuberose absolute supplies the thick, creamy flower itself. Orange blossom softens the heart a little. Roasted coffee, patchouli and vetiver then form a dark, earthy base, less sweet than the other L'Interdit flankers.

About the original

Givenchy announced L'Interdit Tubéreuse Noire in February 2024 as a limited-edition flanker of L'Interdit, sold as a 50 ml Eau de Parfum. The brand said each bottle contains at least eight hand-picked tuberose flowers. One UK retailer presented it as the first release of a 'Forbidden Flowers' collection within L'Interdit. As a limited edition it has sold through at several retailers, and one has said it is unlikely to receive more stock.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Givenchy stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Tuberose devotees looking for a thicker, more carnal take are its clearest audience. The coffee and burnt accord add smoke and bitterness, which may put off anyone hoping for a clean or sunny white floral.

Yes. Givenchy released it as a 2024 limited edition, and its UK site still lists it as a last-chance item.

How does it differ from the original L'Interdit?

It puts tuberose at the centre and adds roasted coffee with a burnt, smoky accord, so it is darker and less sweet than L'Interdit.

Does it smell of coffee?

Roasted coffee is part of the base, adding a bitter, toasty depth beneath the tuberose rather than a sweet latte note.
