Ma Dame, inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame (2008)

Orange comes first, fizzy and cheerful, before the rose opens up. Grenadine, the red pomegranate syrup used in cocktails, gives that rose a tart, candied edge that keeps it youthful. Underneath, musk and Virginia cedar keep everything clean and fairly sheer. Nothing here is heavy or resinous.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian composed Ma Dame, which Jean Paul Gaultier launched in September 2008 as a younger sequel to Classique. It was the house's first new women's fragrance since Fragile in 1999, and its pink glass block carries an engraving of the Classique bust. After roughly fifteen years off the market, Jean Paul Gaultier re-issued Ma Dame Eau de Toilette in October 2024 as an exclusive. The brand presents it as the 2008 scent, although the re-edition's official notes name only orange, rose and white musk.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jean Paul Gaultier stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who reaches for rose but wants it light. The brand rates the current version low in intensity, and people expecting the depth of Classique may find it thin.

Yes. Jean Paul Gaultier re-issued Ma Dame Eau de Toilette in October 2024 after it had been off the market for years, and it is sold on the brand's own site marked 'Exclusive'.

It was launched as a modern, younger sequel to Classique, with a bottle engraved with the Classique silhouette. The scent itself is a fresh, fruity rose. We make both.
