Parfum D'Ete, inspired by Kenzo Parfum d'Été (1992)

Green leaves open the scent, crisp and slightly sappy, as if lily-of-the-valley stems had just been cut. Peony brings a fresh, rosy note and jasmine adds body. Hyacinth, with its cool, damp floral tone, keeps the heart green. Because the flowers sit close to the leaves throughout, it never becomes a heavy bouquet, and sandalwood with white musk settles underneath, smooth and unobtrusive.

About the original

Kenzo introduced Parfum d'Été in 1992 as a summer-themed floral, in a frosted leaf-shaped bottle designed to rest on its side. The brand credits the current composition to Antoine Lie, based on an idea from Jean-Claude Delville, and one retailer dates this version to 2002. Earlier sources describe a 1992 heart that also included rose, narcissus and freesia, so the fragrance appears to have been reworked at some point. It is a different scent from Summer by Kenzo (2005), which we also make.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kenzo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its texture is airy and leafy, closer to a bunch of fresh stems than to a perfumed boudoir. The drydown is discreet, which may leave fans of sweeter or ambery florals wanting more.

Is Parfum d'Été the same as Kenzo Summer?

No. Parfum d'Été (1992) is a green floral that Kenzo still sells; Summer by Kenzo (2005) is a separate almond-milk and musk fragrance.

Which version of Parfum d'Été is this based on?

The current Eau de Parfum, credited by Kenzo to Antoine Lie. The original 1992 range also included an Eau de Toilette and a parfum.
