Summer, inspired by Kenzo Summer by Kenzo (2005)

Bergamot and lemon give a quick, sparkling start. Behind them sits the unusual part, an almond-milk accord that is smooth and gently nutty rather than sugary, framed by mimosa and violet. Lily of the valley, freesia and jasmine keep the floral side airy. Styrax, a balsamic resin with a faint leathery warmth, joins amber and musk in the base, so it ends somewhere near sun-warmed skin.

About the original

Summer by Kenzo was released in 2005 as an Eau de Parfum in 20, 50 and 75 ml, with the composition credited to Alberto Morillas. The idea behind it was sun-warmed skin. It is no longer listed by Kenzo. It is also distinct from Parfum d'Été, the brand's green floral, and from Eau d'Été Flower by Kenzo.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kenzo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who enjoy milky, musky scents with a citrus lift will find it easy to like, and retailers place it in spring and summer daytime. The almond note may read as too mild or skin-like for someone wanting a bold floral.

Almond milk sits at the centre with mimosa and violet, and lighter touches of freesia and jasmine behind them.

Cedarwood and styrax give the base a little structure, while amber and musk keep it rounded.

Is Summer by Kenzo discontinued?

It no longer appears in Kenzo's current range, and at least one large retailer lists it as sold out.

Is this the same as Kenzo Parfum d'Été?

No. Parfum d'Été (1992) is a separate green floral that Kenzo still sells, and we make it too. This page is Summer by Kenzo from 2005.

Does it smell of almond?

Yes, gently. The almond-milk accord is smooth and milky rather than like baking almonds.

Is Kenzo Summer coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Kenzo that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
