Shalimar Souffle de Parfum, inspired by Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Parfum (2014)

Souffle de Parfum takes the vanilla at the heart of Shalimar and dresses it in white flowers. Citrus opens it, a mix of bergamot, lemon and mandarin that feels clean rather than tart. Jasmine sambac and orange blossom water absolute then take the centre, the orange blossom lending a sheer, almost watery quality. The base is vanilla and white musk, tender rather than heavy.

About the original

Thierry Wasser created Souffle de Parfum, launched in July 2014 as the lighter, floral branch of the Shalimar family. It took the place of Shalimar Parfum Initial and Parfum Initial L'Eau, which, according to Bois de Jasmin, were withdrawn at the time. Guerlain Spain specifies Indian and Tahitian vanilla and an overdose of white musk. Shalimar Souffle Intense, which followed in 2017, is a separate flanker.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Guerlain stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Admirers of Shalimar looking for something gentler are the obvious audience. Launch coverage described it as tender and enveloping, and some wearers found it less powdery than Parfum Initial. Vanilla is still the foundation, so the drydown reads sweet.

Jasmine sambac comes forward next, joined by orange blossom water absolute, which smells lighter and more transparent than a full orange blossom.

On skin it settles into vanilla and a generous amount of white musk, clean and smooth.

How is it different from the original Shalimar?

Souffle de Parfum keeps Shalimar's vanilla but builds on jasmine sambac, orange blossom and white musk, so it comes across lighter and more floral. We also make the original Shalimar.

Is this the same as Shalimar Souffle Intense?

No. This page is based on the 2014 Souffle de Parfum. Souffle Intense is a later flanker from 2017.

Is it related to Shalimar Philtre de Parfum?

Both belong to the Shalimar family, but Philtre de Parfum is a separate flanker, which we also make.
