Dry, golden grass rather than a lush garden is the picture here, drawn from the Greek island of Kythira. Olive wood gives a smooth, pale woodiness, and pistachio adds a fresh, green-nutty note. Hermès describes the result as citrus-woody, neither green nor floral. Overall it is light, dry and sun-baked.

About the original

Christine Nagel created Un Jardin à Cythère, launched in March 2023 as the seventh scent in the Hermès Parfums-Jardins series and her second for it. The inspiration is Kythira, a Greek island, and the box was illustrated by Elias Kafouros. It belongs to the main Hermès fragrance range, sold in department stores as well as Hermès shops, not to the Hermessence line. The original is an Eau de Toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hermès stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who find most woody scents too dark or smoky may like its pale, airy dryness. Hermès tags its mood as warm and sensual. Hermès itself calls it neither green nor floral, so anyone hoping for a flower garden should look elsewhere.
