Neroli, the distilled oil of bitter-orange blossom, opens with a green, slightly bitter freshness. Jasmine and ylang-ylang then make the heart lush and faintly banana-like, as ylang tends to be. The base turns to what the brand calls orange blossom milk, a sweeter and rounder side of the same flower, set on smooth sandalwood. The arc runs from fresh petal to creamy skin.

About the original

Daniela Andrier composed Jardin de l'Orangerie for the first Dries Van Noten perfume collection, launched with Puig in 2022. It is part of the fashion house's main fragrance line. The brand calls it solar and sensual, and Andrier describes a duality in the orange blossom: fresh and natural on one side, sweet, opulent and milky on the other. The bottle is bright yellow glass on a rose-coloured base, and the brand states that 90% of the ingredients are naturally derived.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dries Van Noten stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

White-floral lovers who find tuberose too loud may like how this keeps orange blossom at the centre. The drydown is sweet and milky, so anyone wanting a crisp, cologne-style neroli should look elsewhere.
