Very Irresistible, inspired by Givenchy Very Irrésistible (2003)

The top is green and tangy: blackcurrant bud, violet leaf and a basil verbena accord. Roses then fill the centre, and star anise threads through them with a faint licorice note that keeps the bouquet from turning conventional. The finish is light, built on a green magnolia leaf accord, so the scent stays airy and never becomes sweet.

About the original

Givenchy introduced Very Irrésistible in 2003 as a women's eau de toilette, usually credited to Dominique Ropion, Sophie Labbé and Carlos Benaïm. Amanda Seyfried is reported to have fronted a relaunch around 2012, and today it comes in a faceted pink bottle as both an eau de toilette and a warmer eau de parfum with patchouli and vanilla. Older listings of the 2003 version also mention peony, cassia and musk, so the current eau de toilette may differ slightly from the first bottles. It has spawned many flankers, including L'Intense, Sensual and Mes Envies.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Givenchy stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Rose lovers who find classic rose perfumes too heavy may prefer the lighter, green treatment here. The star anise is noticeable, and anyone who dislikes licorice or aniseed may want to try it on skin before committing. It is a fresh floral at heart, without the patchouli and vanilla of Givenchy's eau de parfum.

This is Very Irrésistible from 2003, the rose and star anise scent. Givenchy's Irresistible line from 2020 is a separate fragrance family.

Which version is the reference, eau de toilette or eau de parfum?

The reference is the original eau de toilette. Givenchy's eau de parfum version adds patchouli and vanilla for a warmer base.
