Eau Tropicale, inspired by Sisley Eau Tropicale (2014)

Despite its name, Eau Tropicale is lighter and greener than a beach scent. Bergamot and ginger give the first spray a zesty tingle, while the exotic flowers accord adds a sunny tone. Violet leaf, which smells green and slightly cucumber-like, then cools the tuberose and rose in the heart. Underneath, cedar and patchouli give structure, and ambrette seed, a plant source of musk, leaves a clean finish.

About the original

Sisley launched Eau Tropicale in March 2014 as an eau de toilette, its first new fragrance since Eau d'Ikar in 2011. The brand describes it as fresh, floral and sunny, inspired by a walk through a rainforest after rain. No perfumer was named, as Sisley credits its fragrances to the d'Ornano family. A matching perfumed body lotion was issued alongside it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Sisley stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Green rather than heady, it keeps the tuberose fresh and airy. Ginger and violet leaf give it a crisp character, and the base is clean rather than sweet. Coconut and mango fans looking for a beachy tropical scent will be surprised by how green it is.
