A Taste of Heaven, inspired by Kilian A Taste of Heaven, absinthe verte (2007)

Lavender and absinthe, the bitter green wormwood of the old French aperitif, open together with bergamot. Instead of turning brisk and herbal, the lavender is soon cushioned by geranium, Turkish rose and African orange flower. Oakmoss and patchouli give the classic fougère structure underneath. Over time tonka bean, amber and bourbon vanilla bring a smooth sweetness to the drydown.

About the original

A Taste of Heaven was one of the launch scents of By Kilian's L'Oeuvre Noire collection in autumn 2007, created by Calice Becker. It came in a refillable 50 ml bottle, and it was later filed under Kilian's The Cellars family. It is a separate scent from Straight to Heaven, white cristal, a rum-and-woods fragrance that Kilian still sells. A Taste of Heaven no longer appears on the brand's current collection or refill pages, and retailers list it as sold out.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kilian stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

The natural audience is someone who enjoys lavender but wants it rounded off with vanilla and amber. The drydown is noticeably sweet, and the moss and patchouli give it a classic fougère structure rather than a modern fresh one.

Is Kilian A Taste of Heaven discontinued?

It no longer appears in Kilian's current collections or on its refill pages, and retailers list it as sold out. Kilian has issued no statement on it that we could find.

Does it smell strongly of absinthe?

The absinthe is a green, slightly bitter accent next to the lavender. Lavender and vanilla define the overall impression.

Is Kilian A Taste of Heaven coming back?
