The Story Behind the Scent

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren built their name on avant garde fashion, and when they released Antidote in 2006 they wanted a men’s scent with real character rather than another fresh crowd pleaser. Composed by a team including Carlos Benaim and Dominique Ropion, it leaned into warmth and spice at a time when most designer masculines were going cold and clean, which is exactly where the name came from, an antidote to the ordinary.

A cool mint, cardamom and bergamot open it fresh before the spice takes over, nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of violet give a warm, slightly powdery heart, and a base of patchouli, amber and guaiac wood grounds it in a smooth, smoky depth. The result is elegant and confident, the kind of grown up spicy scent that has kept a loyal following long after it left shelves.

We do not claim this is identical, because no interpretation is. What we have built follows the same spicy woody signature of the original, rebuilt at up to 40% perfume oil so it projects clearly early on and lingers longer than a typical spray. A little goes a long way.
