Boss Bottled Oud

Boss Bottled Oud, inspired by BOSS Bottled Oud (2015)

Citrus and apple open Bottled Oud, but they are only a short prelude to a heavier spiced core. Saffron brings a leathery, faintly metallic tone, clove and cinnamon add heat, and labdanum, a sticky resin from the rockrose shrub, gives the middle an amber-like depth. Oud, the dark resinous wood of the agar tree, anchors the base alongside sandalwood and cypriol, an earthy root note with a smoky edge.

About the original

Bottled Oud reached selected retailers in May 2015 as an Eau de Parfum variation on the BOSS Bottled theme. Hugo Boss marketed it as containing 100% natural oud and called it intense and opulent. It differs from BOSS Bottled Oud Saffron and BOSS Bottled Oud Aromatic, two limited editions that followed in 2019. The 2015 scent is no longer listed by Hugo Boss.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Retail copy pitched it as an evening scent, and its resin-and-spice density matches that description. It is much darker than the original Bottled, with the apple fading soon after the opening. Clove and oud lend a dry, slightly medicinal smokiness that not every wearer will enjoy.

Is Boss Bottled Oud discontinued?

It no longer appears in Hugo Boss's range and at least one major online retailer shows it as out of stock. The brand has not made a public statement.

Is this Bottled Oud Saffron or Bottled Oud Aromatic?

Neither. This page refers to the original BOSS Bottled Oud from 2015. Oud Saffron and Oud Aromatic were separate limited editions released in 2019.

What does oud smell like in this scent?

Dry, dark and woody, with a slightly medicinal edge. Here it is blended with sandalwood and cypriol, so it reads as smoky wood rather than animalic.

Is Boss Bottled Oud coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Hugo Boss that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
