Joop, inspired by Joop! Homme (1989)

Joop! Homme opens with orange blossom and bergamot, but the citrus is soon swamped by cinnamon and heliotrope, the latter smelling of almond and powdery vanilla. Jasmine and a little cardamom add a floral spice to that heart. Sweetness builds steadily rather than fading. Vanilla, tonka bean and honey then fill out the base, with tobacco, patchouli and vetiver giving it a darker, drier edge.

About the original

Joop! introduced Joop! Homme in 1989, and Michel Almairac is usually credited with creating it. The original eau de toilette is the one this page refers to. The line has since grown to include Le Parfum, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Parfum Intense and Neon Edition flankers. It is known for its pronounced sweetness, which wins it devoted fans and puts others off.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Joop! stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its strong sweetness divides opinion. Men who like vanilla, cinnamon and honey will enjoy how dense and spiced it is, but those who dislike sweet scents should approach with care.
