Boss Bottled Tonic, inspired by BOSS Bottled Tonic (2017)

Tonic puts citrus ahead of apple: grapefruit and bitter orange give a tart, peel-like opening, and lemon keeps it fizzy. The apple sits just behind them, linking it to the rest of the line. Ginger and cinnamon form a thin spiced layer in the middle, while geranium adds a green, rosy tone. The finish is dry vetiver and pale woods, with little sweetness.

About the original

Hugo Boss introduced Bottled Tonic in February 2017 as an Eau de Toilette flanker of BOSS Bottled, presented in a light blue bottle. The brand described it as refreshing and not too intense. A 2019 'On The Go Spray' was a travel format of the same scent rather than a new fragrance.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Daytime and warm weather are where most wearers place it, and it reads as a lighter take on the Bottled theme. The cinnamon is gentle, so spice-shy buyers should not be put off. By comparison with the original Bottled or the Eau de Parfum it will seem thin to men who want depth.

How does Tonic differ from the original Boss Bottled?

It is a lighter, citrus-led variation. Grapefruit, orange and lemon lead over the familiar apple, with ginger and a little cinnamon for spice and a dry vetiver base.

Is the Bottled Tonic On The Go Spray a different scent?

No. It was a 2019 travel format of the same 2017 fragrance.
