Carrot Blossom & Fennel, inspired by Jo Malone London Carrot Blossom & Fennel Cologne (2016)

Fennel leads with its aniseed crunch, and wormwood adds a bitter, herbal shadow. The heart is unusual: carrot, earthy and faintly sweet, paired with apricot and a little rose and neroli. Violet root, known in perfumery as orris, brings a powdery, lipstick-like dryness to the finish. White musk and patchouli keep it grounded.

About the original

Anne Flipo composed Carrot Blossom & Fennel for The Herb Garden, a 2016 limited collection that also included Wild Strawberry & Parsley, Nasturtium & Clover and Sorrel & Lemon Thyme. Like the rest of that set, it was a limited release. In 2026 Jo Malone released a separate Carrot Blossom Cologne, listed with fennel, carrot blossom and patchouli. It is a new release, so the carrot and fennel idea is again available from the brand in a different form.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gardeners and herb lovers are the natural audience: it smells green and slightly earthy, with fruit and flowers kept in the background. It is light in feel. The fennel opening carries a clear aniseed tone and the drydown turns powdery with orris, so both stages are worth a skin test.

What does wormwood smell like?

Herbal and bitter, similar to the aromatic edge of absinthe. Here it sharpens the fennel in the opening.

Is Jo Malone London Carrot Blossom & Fennel coming back?

It was a limited edition. So far, we have found no announcement from Jo Malone London about a re-release. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
