Desnuda, inspired by Emanuel Ungaro Desnuda (2001)

Desnuda, Spanish for naked, was conceived as a skin scent, and it behaves like one. White peach and blood mandarin arrive with cardamom and pepper, so fruit and spice show up together. A floral heart follows, where iris adds a cool, slightly rooty tone to rose, jasmine and plum. Vanilla, cinnamon and tonka then settle over sandalwood and musk, while osmanthus lends a faint apricot nuance.

About the original

Emanuel Ungaro released Desnuda in 2001, with Domitille Michalon Bertier credited as perfumer. Early bottles came with a brush applicator, and a spray version followed later. Ungaro's official site now lists only Cosmic, Diva, Diva Rouge, For Her, L'Homme III and For Him, so Desnuda is no longer part of the range. Sellers of vintage bottles widely describe it as discontinued.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Emanuel Ungaro stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Close, quiet wear is where it belongs, for anyone who wants spiced sweetness without volume. It sits near the skin rather than filling a room. The powdery iris and vanilla may feel too cosmetic for those who favour green or citrus scents.

Blood mandarin, Sicilian bergamot and white peach make the opening juicy, while cardamom and pepper give it a dry, spicy edge. Tuberose sits in the background from the start.

Plum and iris shape the heart, with freesia, cyclamen, rose and jasmine adding a light floral layer.

The drydown is vanilla, cinnamon and tonka bean over sandalwood and musk, softened by mimosa and osmanthus.

Is Ungaro Desnuda discontinued?

It no longer appears in Ungaro's official fragrance range, and vintage sellers widely describe it as discontinued.

What does skin scent mean for Desnuda?

It was designed to smell intimate and close to the body, like warm skin with spice and vanilla, rather than to fill a room.

Is Desnuda powdery?

Somewhat. Iris and vanilla give it a powdery, cosmetic softness, especially in the drydown.

Is Emanuel Ungaro Desnuda coming back?
