Ernesto, inspired by Trudon Ernesto

Citrus peel and a dash of rum flash past quickly, and then the scent turns brown and resinous. Oak wood and clove give a dry, spiced texture, while labdanum, a sticky resin from the rockrose shrub, adds a dark, ambery sweetness. Tobacco and leather take over as it settles, with patchouli and moss keeping the base earthy. It reads as smoke and polished wood, with nothing fresh about it once the citrus has gone.

About the original

Ernesto belongs to Trudon's home-fragrance line, created by perfumer Emilie Bouge around the idea of a Havana hotel during the Cuban Revolution. The Ernesto collection of candles, a diffuser and a room spray is still on sale. In 2026 the house launched Carmen, an eau de parfum it presents as carrying the Ernesto candle onto skin, built on bergamot, grapefruit, tobacco, leather, patchouli and ambroxan.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Trudon (Cire Trudon) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Smoke and leather dominate, so this is for lovers of tobacco accords, whatever their gender. It feels heavy and dry rather than sweet. Its cigar and tanned-leather character is the whole point, so it will not convert anyone who avoids those smells.

Is Ernesto a Trudon perfume?

No. Trudon sells Ernesto only as a candle and home fragrance. This product is inspired by that scent profile.

How does it relate to Trudon Carmen?

Carmen is Trudon's 2026 eau de parfum, which the brand describes as extending the Ernesto candle to skin. It shares bergamot, grapefruit, tobacco, leather and patchouli with Ernesto.

Is it smoky?

Yes. Tobacco, leather and labdanum give it a cigar-like smokiness, with little sweetness beyond the rum at the start.
