Jasmin Noir

Jasmin Noir, inspired by Bvlgari Jasmin Noir (2008)

Jasmin Noir takes a white flower and pulls it into shadow. Green sap and gardenia open it with a cool, leafy freshness, but the jasmine sambac that follows is dense and velvety, with almond adding a smooth, nutty roundness. Licorice is the unusual touch: it darkens the base with a bittersweet, aniseed tone over tonka bean and woods. The result reads more like evening satin than a bunch of fresh-cut flowers.

About the original

Carlos Benaïm and Sophie Labbé created Jasmin Noir for Bvlgari, and it launched in August 2008, initially as a Nordstrom exclusive in the United States. Kate Moss fronted the campaign, and the brand positioned it above its Rose Essentielle. Mon Jasmin Noir (2011) and Splendida Jasmin Noir (2017) later borrowed the name, but Splendida is described as a different composition. The original 2008 eau de parfum no longer appears in Bvlgari's range and it is listed as discontinued in fragrance references.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Bvlgari stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its natural setting is an autumn or winter evening, worn by a woman who finds most white florals too innocent. Its almond and tonka sweetness is noticeable, and anyone expecting a crisp, green jasmine may find the drydown too dense.

Green notes and gardenia open it with a dewy, sap-like freshness that fades once the flowers take hold.

The heart is jasmine sambac, fuller and rounder than ordinary jasmine, paired with almond for a smooth, marzipan-like feel.

Tonka bean and licorice shape the drydown. Precious woods, amber, musk and patchouli give it weight and a polished, shadowy finish.

Is Bvlgari Jasmin Noir discontinued?

It no longer appears in Bvlgari's current fragrance range, and it is listed as discontinued in fragrance references. We have not found an official statement from Bvlgari.

Is this the same as Splendida Jasmin Noir?

No. Ours is inspired by the 2008 Jasmin Noir. Splendida Jasmin Noir (2017) reused the name for a different composition.

How does it differ from Mon Jasmin Noir?

Mon Jasmin Noir (2011) is a lighter flanker with citron, lily of the valley and nougat. Jasmin Noir is darker, with almond and licorice in its character. We make both.

Is Bvlgari Jasmin Noir coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Bvlgari that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
