Pour Homme

Pour Homme, inspired by Moschino Pour Homme (1990)

The opening is green and bitter: clary sage, lavender and rosemary, lifted by bergamot. Carnation and caraway then bring a clove-like, slightly savoury spice, with orris and rose behind them. Its base is a leather accord over oakmoss, styrax and labdanum, a rock-rose resin with a dark, ambery smell. Benzoin, tonka and a faint coconut keep the finish rounded without making it sweet.

About the original

Moschino launched Pour Homme in 1990 as its men's eau de toilette, and the perfumer has never been firmly established. It no longer appears on Moschino's site or in the range of its licensee Euroitalia, and is believed to have been withdrawn at some point in the 2000s. Collectors often compare it with older Hermès Bel Ami, noting a more herbal, Mediterranean character.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Moschino stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

The comparison with Bel Ami tells you a lot: this is a leather chypre in the classic mould, with moss and resin in place of modern sweetness. The first minutes are bitter and herbal, which can feel severe to someone used to smoother fragrances.
