Pour Homme Extreme, inspired by Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme (2015)

Pine and juniper berries open with a resinous, gin-like freshness, and bergamot lightens the first few minutes. Fir and pimento, the dried allspice berry, then add a peppery, clove-like spice, joined by nutmeg. The base turns darker, with leather and patchouli bound together by labdanum, a sticky resin from the rockrose shrub that smells ambery and slightly animalic. It stays dry and outdoorsy rather than sweet.

About the original

Released in 2015, Pour Homme Extreme is a more intense flanker of Bottega Veneta Pour Homme (2013). Daniela Andrier and Antoine Maisondieu are credited with the composition, which pushes the conifer and resin side further. Pour Homme Parfum (2017) and Pour Homme Essence Aromatique (2016) are separate releases with their own formulas. Like the rest of the house's Coty-era range, it was discontinued around 2021, and the licence ended in 2022.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Bottega Veneta stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Against the original Pour Homme, this is the more intense, resinous choice. It has a rugged, coniferous feel and enough body to seem substantial. Men who dislike pine or leather, or who want something sweet, should look elsewhere.

Yes. It left production with the rest of Bottega Veneta's Coty-era range around 2021.

Extreme is the more intense 2015 flanker, with pine, juniper and fir up front and a resinous leather base.

Is it sweet?

No. The profile is coniferous, spicy and resinous, with no gourmand notes.

Is Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme coming back?
