Cacharel Pour Homme, inspired by Cacharel pour L'Homme (1981)

Lavender and clary sage set an herbal, slightly musky tone from the start, with nutmeg and bergamot adding spice and lift. Carnation, with its clove-like warmth, joins geranium to give the heart a floral-spicy character, smoothed by ylang-ylang and jasmine. Fougère means fern in French and describes this lavender and moss structure, which shows clearly in the base. There oakmoss, a lichen with a damp forest-floor smell, sits with fir, vetiver and sandalwood for a dark green, woody finish.

About the original

Cacharel released pour L'Homme in 1981, and it became the house's long-running men's fragrance. It is usually credited to the perfumer Gérard Goupy. Many retailers list it simply as Cacharel Pour Homme, which is the same fragrance. Its structure is typical of its era, built on aromatic herbs, a spiced floral heart and a mossy base.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Cacharel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.
