Three years after the original Egoiste, Jacques Polge returned with Platinum Egoiste, a completely different composition sharing only the name. Where the original is a floral oriental built around damask rose and sandalwood, Platinum is an aromatic fougère in the classical tradition: lavender and rosemary at the opening, clary sage and geranium through the heart, and an ambery woody base. The French expression “qui a de la platine” refers to a man who is brilliant and eloquent, and Chanel’s positioning gave Platinum a more extroverted masculine identity than its predecessor. The fragrance has remained in continuous production for over three decades and remains one of the most loved Chanel masculines. Our interpretation respects that aromatic fougère lineage.

How It Smells

The opening is herbal and bracingly fresh, lavender leading with rosemary and a quick galbanum note adding intensely green herbal character.
