Montana Homme, inspired by Montana Homme (2001)

Artemisia sets the tone, a herb from the wormwood family with a bitter, almost medicinal green bite. Bergamot and bitter orange sharpen it instead of sweetening it. Geranium then brings a rosy, minty note, while cedar and iris keep the heart dry and a little powdery. Patchouli, white musk and amber round off the base without making it rich.

About the original

Montana's first men's fragrance was Montana Parfum d'Homme in 1989, sold in a ribbed bottle by Serge Mansau and described by wearers as deep and spicy, with leather and musk. After the licence reportedly moved from Clarins to Diana de Silva, a lighter version was kept and sold as Montana Homme, which fragrance references date to 2001. This page follows that later Montana Homme; whether the current licensee still makes it is something we have not been able to confirm.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Montana (Parfums Montana) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its bitterness is the thing to know about. Men raised on ambers or aquatic freshies may find the artemisia opening austere, though it relaxes once cedar and musk come through. Next to the 1989 Parfum d'Homme it is described as lighter and more citrus-led.
