One Man Show

One Man Show, inspired by Jacques Bogart One Man Show (1980)

One Man Show begins green and herbal, with basil and artemisia (a bitter, wormwood-like herb) set against galbanum, a resin that smells like crushed stems. Pine needles and spices take the heart, with carnation and patchouli behind them. The base is where its age shows: oakmoss and leather, backed by castoreum, an animal note with a dark, leathery depth. Tonka bean and vanilla, with a touch of coconut, round off the edges a little.

About the original

Roger Pellegrino created One Man Show for Jacques Bogart in 1980. It belongs to the chypre family, built on the contrast between a citrus-green top and a mossy base. Several edition flankers have since used the name, among them Gold Edition (2011) and later Oud, Ruby and Emerald versions. This page follows the original eau de toilette, which Jacques Bogart still sells.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jacques Bogart stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its style belongs to the early 1980s: dense, mossy and animalic, with pine and leather rather than anything aquatic. It is most likely to appeal to admirers of vintage chypres. The leather and castoreum may feel heavy to a buyer used to modern fresh fragrances.
