The One

The One, inspired by Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men (2008)

Citrus and spice arrive together, though the grapefruit and coriander fade quickly. The middle is where The One for Men shows its character: cardamom and ginger with a little orange blossom, an almost baked-spice effect. Tobacco and amber then take over, sweet and vanillic, over cedar. Overall it reads as cosy and warm rather than fresh.

About the original

Olivier Polge composed The One for Men, launched by Dolce & Gabbana in spring 2008 as an eau de toilette and the men's counterpart to the women's The One. An eau de parfum followed in 2015. Trade reports say the line was relaunched in late 2025 with redesigned bottles and a new Parfum, and the brand's current eau de toilette page describes basil, lavender and sandalwood accords, which suggests it has been reworked. The description on this page follows the 2008 composition.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dolce & Gabbana stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Cold weather suits it best; an early review called it wintry despite its spring launch. The tobacco and amber sweetness is noticeable, and one critic found a slightly sweaty phase in the heart, so men who prefer crisp, clean scents may not take to it.

It is inspired by the men's The One for Men. The women's The One is a different fragrance with its own page in our range.

Has The One for Men been changed?

The line was reportedly relaunched in late 2025, and the brand now describes the eau de toilette with basil, lavender and sandalwood rather than the original tobacco and amber. We have not seen an official statement on how much changed; this page is inspired by the 2008 eau de toilette.

Does it smell of tobacco?

Yes, in the drydown. Tobacco sits with amber and cedar, giving a sweet, rounded warmth rather than an ashtray note.
