Ambrette 9, inspired by Le Labo Ambrette 9 (2006)

Ambrette seed comes from a hibiscus plant and has a musky, slightly fruity smell, which is why perfumers use it as a plant-based stand-in for animal musk. Here it carries the whole composition. A touch of citrus and fruit keeps the start fresh, then the musk takes over, smooth and faintly powdery. Nothing in it is heavy or dark.

About the original

Ambrette 9 was among Le Labo's first releases in early 2006. At launch it was described as a light fragrance suited to children, and the brand still presents it as delicate. It belongs to the Classic Collection, and Le Labo publishes no note pyramid, naming ambrette as the key ingredient. No perfumer is named in the sources we read.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Le Labo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lightness is the point here. It appeals to people who like skin-like musk more than flowers or sweetness, while a buyer hoping for a rich, many-layered perfume may find it too plain.
