The Story Behind the Scent

Pierre Montale spent years crafting ouds for royal families in the Gulf before opening his Paris house, and his gift was making big, radiant oud approachable to Western noses. Arabians Tonka is a perfect example, taking the deep agarwood he is known for and sweetening it into something almost gourmand.

Saffron and bergamot open it warm and slightly spiced, a smooth oud, rose and a hit of sugar build a sweet, opulent heart, and a base of tonka bean, amber and musk keeps it warm, sweet and long lasting. It smells like rich wood and sweet vanilla toffee, indulgent and cosy but still grown up.

We do not claim this is identical, because no interpretation is. What we have built follows the same sweet oud signature of the original, rebuilt at up to 40% perfume oil so it projects clearly early on and lingers longer than a typical spray.
