Plum Blossom, inspired by Jo Malone London Plum Blossom Cologne (2012)

Yellow plum leads, and it smells of fresh, pale fruit rather than plum jam or dried prunes. The heart is listed only as floral notes, without named flowers, so it comes across as a general blossom impression rather than one particular bloom. Sandalwood and white musk then take over, giving the finish a smooth, slightly milky texture. Launch coverage called the whole composition delicate and subtle, and it stays light from start to finish.

About the original

Plum Blossom appeared in May 2012 as a limited edition cologne. The brand suggested wearing it with Nectarine Blossom & Honey, in line with its own idea of fragrance combining, where two colognes are layered together. In April 2017 it returned in a limited Blossoms trio alongside Osmanthus Blossom and Silk Blossom. It is not part of the current range, and it is a different scent from both Nashi Blossom and Nectarine Blossom & Honey.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A wearer who finds most fruity florals too sugary may get on well with it, as the plum is pale and the base is clean musk rather than vanilla. Launch coverage pitched it at spring and summer. Its lightness is the main trade-off: it is a gentle scent, not a rich or dramatic fruit.

Is Jo Malone Plum Blossom discontinued?

It was a limited edition, first sold in spring 2012 and re-issued in a limited Blossoms trio in 2017. It is no longer produced and does not appear among Jo Malone London's current colognes.

Is Plum Blossom the same as Nashi Blossom?

No. Nashi Blossom is a separate Jo Malone London cologne, and the 2023 Blossoms trio (Nashi Blossom, Osmanthus Blossom, Star Magnolia) did not include Plum Blossom. We make Nashi Blossom too.

Which scent was it meant to be layered with?

Jo Malone London suggested Nectarine Blossom & Honey, another fruity cologne from its range, which we also make.

Is Jo Malone London Plum Blossom coming back?

It was a limited edition. So far, we have found no announcement from Jo Malone London about a re-release. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
