Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, inspired by Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum (2021)

Gorgeous Gardenia opens on a pear blossom accord, airy and lightly fruity, before the gardenia blooms out fully. The flower here is lush and milky rather than green, with jasmine grandiflorum adding a sunnier, more radiant side. As it dries down a brown sugar accord comes forward with a caramel-tinged sweetness, and patchouli stops the base from turning into pure confection. It is playful and unashamedly pretty.

About the original

Gucci released this eau de parfum in summer 2021 as a stronger, more concentrated take on Flora by Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia, an eau de toilette first launched in 2012 in the Flora Garden Collection. Miley Cyrus fronted the campaign. The name later grew into a family of Flora Gorgeous scents, with Jasmine following in 2022 and Magnolia in 2023, and an Intense version of Gardenia after that.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Gucci stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of fruity florals with a sugary finish will feel at home here. It has more body than a typical fresh floral, with patchouli giving the base some weight. The brown sugar note is clearly sweet, which puts it at odds with a taste for crisp or green flowers.

Is this the 2021 eau de parfum or the 2012 eau de toilette?

It is inspired by the 2021 eau de parfum, the current version. The 2012 eau de toilette from the Flora Garden Collection was a lighter concentration.

Is Flora Gorgeous Gardenia sweet?

Yes, noticeably. The pear blossom and especially the brown sugar accord give it a sugary finish, balanced by patchouli.

How does it compare with Flora Gorgeous Jasmine?

Jasmine leans on citrus and sandalwood and feels fresher. Gardenia is fruitier and sweeter.
