L'Eau D' Issey, inspired by Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Eau de Toilette (1992)

Issey Miyake asked for the smell of water on skin, and that is the effect. A cool, slightly watery opening of lotus and rose leads into a bouquet of lily and peony that stays sheer. Calone, the material behind many aquatic perfumes, gives a melon-like, marine freshness early on. As it dries, cedar, sandalwood, amber and musk make a clean woody base, and nothing about it feels heavy.

About the original

L'Eau d'Issey was Issey Miyake's first fragrance, launched in 1992 and composed by Jacques Cavallier. The brief was the scent of water on a woman's skin, and the name also plays on the word 'odyssey'. L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme followed in 1994 as a separate fragrance. This page is for the women's original, which Issey Miyake still sells.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Issey Miyake stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Minimalists tend to suit it best, since it reads clean and unobtrusive. The watery, melon-like opening can feel cool and sharp to someone who prefers creamy or sweet scents.

The women's, from 1992. L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme (1994) is a different scent, which we also make.

Mainly Calone, a synthetic material with a fresh melon and sea-air character, combined with lotus and other watery florals.
