Santal Royal, inspired by Guerlain Les Absolus d'Orient Santal Royal (2014)

Guerlain calls Santal Royal a woody oriental, and sandalwood anchors it from start to finish. It begins on a floral note, with neroli and jasmine, before peach and rose give the heart a rounded, velvety feel. Cinnamon adds spice without dominating. Underneath, leather and oud pull the sandalwood into darker territory, while amber and musk smooth the edges.

About the original

Thierry Wasser created Santal Royal, which launched in autumn 2014 with limited distribution, at Harrods and in Dubai. It later became one of three fragrances in Guerlain's Les Absolus d'Orient collection, beside Épices Exquises and Cuir Intense. Some retailers list it under the Absolus Allegoria name. The line also includes a hair mist and body products; this page is based on the eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Guerlain stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

People who reach for sandalwood but want more depth than a skin-like wood will find it here. Peach and rose round it out, and leather gives it a darker edge. Both the cinnamon and the leather are noticeable, which matters if either note bothers you.
