Cargo de Nuit, inspired by Prada Olfactories Cargo de Nuit (2015)

Cargo de Nuit is led by ambrette, a seed with a musky smell and a slightly fruity, skin-like warmth, laid over clean cedar. The effect is airy and pale rather than dense. Fuller note lists, from fragrance references rather than Prada, add iris for a powdery, rooty tone, coumarin with its sweet hay smell, and the transparent woody material Iso E Super. Hedione, a material with a fresh, jasmine-like radiance, and a little freesia lighten the middle.

About the original

Prada launched Cargo de Nuit in September 2015 as one of ten Olfactories, an exclusive range all composed by Daniela Andrier under Miuccia Prada's creative direction. The collection first went on sale at Galeries Lafayette and Prada boutiques in Milan and New York, as a 100 ml eau de parfum in a patterned silk pouch. Prada describes this one as the scent of a twilight passage on the high seas. It has no connection with the Prada Infusions line.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Prada stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Among the Olfactories it has been described as one of the lighter, airier compositions, which makes it a quiet choice for lovers of understated musky woods. Prada sells it without a gender. The name suggests something dark and nocturnal, and buyers expecting that may find it paler than they imagined.

Ambrette sets the tone from the beginning, musky and faintly fruity, with cedar drawing a dry, pencil-shaving line through it.

As it develops, a powdery iris and the hay sweetness of coumarin are said to soften the woods, while hedione and freesia keep the middle airy.

The base stays woody and musky, with the listed sandalwood and Iso E Super giving a smooth, diffuse finish.

No. It belongs to the Olfactories, a separate ten-scent exclusive collection launched in 2015.

Is Cargo de Nuit a men's or women's fragrance?

Not noticeably. Coumarin may add a light hay-like sweetness, but the overall impression is musky and woody.
