Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, inspired by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum (2017)

Where the eau de parfum floats, the extrait sits lower and deeper. Bitter almond gives it a nutty, marzipan-like start, and saffron adds a dry spice. Jasmine carries the middle, while an ambergris accord with cashmeran (a musky, woody material with a suede-like feel) and musk forms a heavier base. Its sweetness is closer to caramel than to spun sugar.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian released the Extrait de Parfum in 2017, two years after the eau de parfum, as a more concentrated interpretation of Baccarat Rouge 540. His house says it intensifies the radiance of the three auras found in the eau de parfum. It is a reworked composition rather than a stronger dilution: bitter almond and cashmeran appear in the official description of the extrait but not in the eau de parfum's notes. The line itself began in 2014 with a crystal edition for Baccarat's 250th anniversary.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Francis Kurkdjian stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It suits admirers of the eau de parfum who would like it deeper. Compared with that version it is darker and nuttier, so an aversion to almond or caramel notes is worth weighing before choosing it.

This page is inspired by MFK's Extrait de Parfum (2017), a separate composition from the eau de parfum, darker and nuttier, with bitter almond and cashmeran. Our version is not an extrait: it is an eau de parfum, 50 or 100 ml.

Does it smell of almond?

Yes. Bitter almond leads the opening, a marzipan-like nuttiness that recedes as jasmine and the ambergris accord come through.
