Orange Bitters Cologne, inspired by Jo Malone London Orange Bitters Cologne (2016)

Orange Bitters is styled after a winter cocktail, and it opens like one: ripe sweet orange and mandarin, then the pithy bite of bitter orange. As the zest fades, a dark, slightly jammy prune note emerges, unusual in a citrus scent. Sandalwood and amber hold the base, so the finish has more body than a classic eau de cologne.

About the original

Orange Bitters began as a limited edition for the 2016 holiday season. The brand has brought it back in later Christmas collections and currently sells it as a festive cologne. Like the rest of the house's colognes it is presented as unisex and suited to layering. It is unrelated to Orange Blossom, the floral cologne in the permanent line.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Winter, and the run-up to Christmas in particular, is where the brand positions it. Prune and amber make it rounder and sweeter than a fresh citrus, so it will feel too rich for anyone wanting a crisp orange for hot weather.

Orange Blossom is a light white floral with lilac and orris. Orange Bitters is a fruity citrus with prune, sandalwood and amber. We make both.
