Yum Pistachio Gelato, inspired by Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 (2023)

Pistachio arrives first, nutty and milky, with hazelnut deepening it and a splash of rum and cardamom adding spice. A fruity-floral layer of white peach, raspberry, pear and muguet (lily of the valley) keeps the middle from feeling heavy for a while. Then the sugar gathers: marshmallow, cotton candy and a rosy Turkish delight note settle over cocoa, tonka and a little cedar and sandalwood. The overall effect is a scoop of gelato melting into a sweet shop.

About the original

Kayali released Yum Pistachio Gelato in 2023, with the perfumery credited to the father and son Olivier and Sébastien Cresp. The '33' in the name is its iteration number. On its own page the brand files it under a Fall Collection and calls it an eau de parfum, although retailers and press label it Eau de Parfum Intense. The Yum name has since been extended to body products and layering sets, which are separate from this fragrance.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kayali stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Anyone who already loves nutty, marshmallow-heavy gourmands will feel at home here. Kayali tags it as part of a Fall Collection, and its density fits the cooler months. The drydown is unapologetically sugary, so it is a poor match for people who prefer dry or fresh scents.

Kayali's own page lists the original as an eau de parfum, while many retailers sell it as Eau de Parfum Intense. Our version is an eau de parfum.

How sweet is it?

Very. Marshmallow, cotton candy and whipped cream dominate the base, and even the opening is built on ice cream and nuts.
